WEEKLY NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR MEMBERS

5/8/2024

BSF is official on Summer Break and will resume in the Fall (1st Week of September) with the Study of Revelations. Those wishing to continue in their Bible Study over the summer are welcomed to join our Inter-Term study sponsored in partnership with Menlo Church.  Two participation options below: 

 1. For men and children (boys and girls High School and above) in-person or on-line on Tuesdays, 7-8:30pm starting 6/4/24 at Menlo Church, 950 Santa Cruz Ave, Menlo Park, CA 94025.

2. For men and women on-line only on Thursdays, 7-8:45pm starting 6/6/24 (optional last fellowship sharing dinner at Sunset Church, 3638 Lawton St (x 42nd Ave), San Francisco, CA 94122.

Groups are meeting throughout the Bay Area. While masks are not required, please mask up if you feel sick or show any symptoms of the various flu and cold viruses rapidly spreading this Winter season.

Groups are filling up fast. Once they are filled, all subsequent enrollment requested are waitlisted or asked to join an online group. Please go to bsfinternational.org and click the top link: Find a Group to register asap.

Enrolling new members now. Please go to bsfinternational.org to join a group. Then download the BSF app which will make it easy for members to access study questions, notes, commentaries, and listen to the leader's review talk as an audiostream.

8/11/2023

1. We're just three weeks away from starting our New Study in the Gospel of John. If you've been that person who wished you could have a stronger understanding of Jesus as Messiah, His fulfillment of all God's covenantal promises to humanity, and what it means to be "saved," this study will open your eyes and strengthen your faith. It's also a perfect introduction to Jesus for the new believer or the curious seeker/investigator. All new students should enroll at bsfinternational.org at a location near you. Our main in-person location uses the facilities at First Baptist Church at 22 Waller, by Market Street highway onramp. There is ample parking on Haight Street. 

3/6/2023

1. We are having a Spring Break this week : March 4-10 . All leader's meetings and study groups are resting this week, unless your group has decided otherwise. If in doubt, please check with your group leader.

2. The new BSF Study announcement is out for this coming Fall 2023. We'll be studying the Gospel of John. Please let your group leader know of your intentions to continue next Fall so your BSF account is continues into the Fall.

2/7/2023

1. This week is Fellowship Week when groups get together for interpersonal fellowship. Some in-person groups are planning on having dinner together at the Church. Please consult your group leader on how your group is planning to do a fellowship activity.

2. There will be no Convocation (Open prayer and praise pre-meeting) this Tuesday (2/7) due to the Fellowship events at the church.

1/27/2023

1. Please remember to pray over recent tragedies in our region. We are reminded constantly of the fragility and precious value of all human life. 

2. Remember that we will have in-person fellowship coming up the 2nd week of February. Fellowship locations and times are determined by your Group Leader in conference with your members. If you have any questions, please contact your group leader.

3. Please pray for more groups in our region. Think about how we might introduce BSF with our friends and neighborhood churches as a powerful tool for training and discipleship in their local communities. 

Week 11/13-19 

1. Thanksgiving Break is next week (Nov 21-26). Please be aware that if your group is meeting mid-week, your group may be on break for this coming week. If your group is meeting for Sunday School, or sometime this weekend (Sat, Sun, Mon) you may still be meeting. Please contact your group leader for more specifics about your group plans.

2. Last week was our 2nd Fellowship week. We asked all groups to plan and find their own times to fellowship and hang out with their members. If your groups has not done this yet, please take the initiative to support and help your group leader plan a time for informal sharing and friendship building over coffee or a meal.

3. This coming Lesson 10 has long passage readings because it is a closing Lesson concluding our review of Elijah and Elisha's ministry to a wayward nation. Lesson 11 will be a capstone review of what we've studied, and we will move on to study the "unwilling" prophet JONAH next. But you have two weeks to work on it Lesson 10 so ease into it today in small pieces, use a Bible app to hear it by audio as you're walking around, enjoy the process. 

Week 10/22-29

1. MyBSF.org lecture server is having some issues broadcasting our lecture talk for this week. So please read the description there which will point you to the Youtube video upload backup or the audio podcast on any podcast provider, including Spotify, Google, and Apple. The Podcast name is BibleSF. 

2. BSF San Francisco is taking applications for new group leaders and new satellite locations. If you would like to lead a group or start a BSF group at your church, send us an email and we'll get you started.

3. Remember that BSF relies on our membership to continue this ministry. While the Study program and resources are entirely free, it costs about $15-18 per member/month to operate the ministry. Please consider a generous donation if you are able - on a regular basis or for this Christmas end-of-year giving. Use this link HERE.

Week 10/15-22

1. Leader's Fellowship Breakfast this Saturday Oct 15 in-person. We want to encourage everyone to attend as we resume a semblance of normality in regular programming. New leaders, associate leaders all invited. For location information, please check our Slack board or email biblestudyinsf@gmail.com. 

Week of 10/2-8

1. Convocation Resumes This Week! Remember if you are in a group meeting at 1st Baptist Church, we are starting our convocation this Tuesday Oct 4 at 6:50pm. Please enter through the side Octavia Street entrance which is the busy hwy street. That is the only door opened from now on for security issues. Don't forget to wear your name tag if you have one. We will sing and pray together until 7:05, and speak about the our reflections until 7:15pm. If you are an online participant, your GL should have sent you two meeting links this week, one for the general session, and the one for your group discussion. If you haven't received them, contact your Group Leader asap.

2. GL's LM Fellowship has been postponed to Oct 15 at the church. If at all possible, please try to attend this Fellowship in person.

Week of 9/25-1:

1. RETURNING TO NORMAL PROGRAMMING AT 1st BAPTIST CHURCH, GROUPS Starting OCT4: With decreasing Covid infections, we are gradually returning to normal programming of prayer, worship, and short talk from our TL at the 1st Baptist Church location. All groups meeting in-person at 1st Baptist Church are welcomed to join in at 6:50-7:15pm in the main fellowship hall. Group's normal discussion will convene at 7:15pm in their respective classes. 

2. UPCOMING FELLOWSHIP WEEK OF OCT 8TH. We are having our first group fellowship coming up the week of Oct 8th. So groups meeting on Tuesday, your fellowship will be Oct 11. Other groups will have fellowships as coordinated by your group leader as a group decision. Our TL made an announcement about fellowship in his lecture talk, but may not have been clear about the dates. Groups in our main meeting venue at 1st Baptist Church will have a special All-Group fellowship Tuesday night Oct 11 starting at 6-6:50pm in the church fellowship hall. Anyone who is a member of BSF is welcomed to join us. Our normal programming will start at 6:50pm.

3. COVID MASKING: If you are meeting in person and have been vaccinated or naturally immunized by previous illness, a mask if optional but recommended. For all others, please mask in order to curtain spread for vulnerable others.

4. LECTURES TALKS: Lectures for each lesson is available in your mybsf.org account as well as in podcast format by searching for BibleSF. Our yellow podcast logo should say "Magnify lectures, Bible Study Fellowship." Some have mentioned that the video on mybsf.org was not showing. Please try refreshing your browser if you see this happening. BSF HQ is still working on website issues so if the video continues to give you problems, please send a feedback ticket to biblestudyinsf@gmail.com with a screenshot if possible.
